Tadao Ando designed art gallery in Roppongi
I gotta say, I really enjoy taking my camera to 21_21 Design Sight, the Tadao Ando-designed, steel and concrete lowrise tucked into the Garden behind Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi (that’s Tokyo, if you don’t know). Despite the fact that, or maybe because, it’s off most people radar – though I think I’m starting to see some familiar Euro-hipster faces from Golden Gai…
The curators always manage an offbeat show, such last winter’s Kome: The Art of Rice, and the current Imagemakers, featuring work by David Byrne, Jun Miyake, and Jean-Paul Goude, among several others – on ’til October 5th.
21_21 Design Sight also has a camera-friendly policy. For this gallery, I’ve limited the pictures to those which highlight the architecture of the Sight itself as I don’t want to abuse the policy (and see it cancelled). Still, there’s a few sneak peaks here of some of the work currently on display (trigger alert: hedgehogs!).
